After the remarkable Macallan 1989 from the Artist Collection #9 in 2020 Creation Catalogue, this version distilled in 1990 looks at Speyside’s most prestigious single malt from the perspective of bourbon cask maturation. Overflowing with maturity, it begins by imposing its profoundly malty character, in order allow free rein to its desire for long-distance travel. The similarity with a great Junmai Daiginjo Sake in this sense is a highlight of a tasting that also enthu- siastically explores fruity, floral, malty and herbaceous paths, each more nuanced than the next.
