For its new release, Ardbeg relies on a legend that a dragon occupies the distillery’s Warehouse 3 and projects a hot blast of burnt, charred flavor. As such, this Single Malt was aged in old toasted American oak Bourbon casks that were charred to near destruction. It has an aromatic palette combining Ardbeg peat with notes of charred oak, heather fire, sage and pine. Bold notes of leather, toast and black licorice balanced with sweet smoke. This new Ardbeg Scorch should have a fiery temperament for what promises to be a tantalizing tasting.
