The Caol Ila 12 Year Old 2011 (Butt #300247) by The Single Malts Of Scotland is an independent, single-cask Islay single malt Scotch whisky bottled by Elixir Distillers. Distilled in 2011 and aged for 12 years in a single Sherry butt, it is bottled at a cask strength of 60.7% ABV.
NOSE: Intense peat smoke, sea spray, and bonfire ash, balanced by dark plums, raisins, and brown sugar from the sherry cask.
PALATE: Thick, oily, and mouth-coating. Heavy medicinal smoke and tar collide with sweet tinned fruits, clove, and cracked black pepper.
FINISH: Exceptionally long, warming, and drying, leaving a lingering trail of smouldering embers and salty seaweed.
