This is a highly sought-after, single-cask expression of Ledaig 18 Year Old (2007) Connoisseurs Choice, bottled by the legendary independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail for La Maison du Whisky's exclusive "Itinéraires" collection. It marries the aggressive, maritime peat of the Isle of Mull with the deep, fruity influence of premium sherry wood.
This single malt is praised for its massive balance between dirty coastal peat and clean sherry maturation.
NOSE: Heavy, oily, and lemony peat smoke. Complemented by cured ham, roasted peanuts, clove, and white pepper, alongside a hint of industrial petrol.
PALATE: Full-bodied and rich. Creamy stewed apples, Demerara sugar, and milk chocolate meet dry, woody spices, coriander herbs, and blackberry leaves.
FINISH: Very long and warming, dominated by persistent white pepper and sweet, residual ash.
