Kilchoman Distillery sits nestled amongst the traditional farm buildings of Rockside Farmon the north-west coast of Islay, sheltered beneath the Creag Mhor headland.
Famous as Islay's Farm Distillery, the distillery's barley fields scretch west to the shores of Machir Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Kilchoman is unique in many ways, most notably for their 100% Isaly range, Scotland's only single malt produced from barley both grown and malted on Islay.
This 100% Islay malt single cask, bottled exclusively for La Maison Du Whisky, was matured for over 11 years in a bourbon barrel previously used by Buffalo Trace. During its 11 years maturation the caracter of the Kilchoman spirit has refined to delicate citrus and malty notes, with light hints of smokiness to create a very well balanced barley to bottle Islay whisky.
NOSE: White fruits and vanilla sweetness, with light hints of herbal notes.
PALATE: Fresh berries, salted caramel and creamy, with hints of seaweed smokiness.
FINISH: Long and creamy, with a smoky finish.
