This Connoisseurs Choice release from Gordon & MacPhail features a 2009 Caol Ila single malt that underwent a unique maturation process. First aged in an ex-bourbon barrel, the whisky was then transferred to an ex-Sassicaia wine cask for an additional two years of finishing before being bottled in November 2022. Upon pouring, you’ll be met with a tantalizing bouquet of dried figs, cured meats, and cinnamon spice. These aromas give way to a complex palate filled with bright notes of redcurrant, black pepper, lemon peel, forest fruits, and a subtle smokiness that lingers in the finish.
